John & Nick first opened Lordswood back in 2011 with the enthusiastic backing of John Leigh- Pemberton who runs and owns the Torry Hill Estate. While the site was very popular, we got distracted by Forgewood.
We are now back hoping to make this site really special and a good option for those that used to visit us at Forgewood. Lordswood is open until the beginning of August. It is already proving very popular so you might want to check the Camping Unplugged Availability calendar.
The site is set amongst the rolling hills of Kent in a large undulating field surrounded by woodlands. The field has plenty of flat spots ideal for camping and the woods will gradually open up to provide great woodland camping.
Like all our sites there are no fixed pitches so it is ideal for large family groups which can spread themselves out and erect the odd gazebo for cooking etc.
Everyone can have an open campfire by their pitch where you can cook your meals using one of our Campfire Grills(£5 per night to hire). We will supply logs and kindling for £5 a bag. Cars can be parked by your pitch and there is a good access track running through the site.
The facililities will be more basic than our standard simply because we cannot get Portakabins down the lane with all its overhanging trees. For this year we will have Four Jays Event toilets and gas powered showers, but we hope to improve on these with long drops and woodland showers soon. There is water on site, but obviously there is no electrical hookup and electricity is supplied via the occasional use of a generator.
We are open and having a great time. Its great to be back and I for one think this is a fantastic site and who cares about flushing toilets!! John
